Overview
The Rocklin City Council has approved the Central Rocklin Area (CRA) Façade, Revitalization & Accessibility Grant Program to encourage revitalization by means of private investment through renovations and quality improvements in the visual appearance of building façades and to improve accessibility to commercial structures. The Façade Grant Program also strives to leverage private improvements while making revitalization efforts affordable, creative, and community based.
There is $50,000 in funding available for façade improvement grants. The application period is from April 18 to May 31, 2012. The City intends to obligate all funds by August and for all reimbursements to be made by June 30, 2013. If all of the $50,000 is not allocated in August to approved projects, the City may make available additional matching funds to already approved recipients for qualified projects. The program is based on a 50:50 matching grant (50% funded by the City with a 50% match from the property/business owner) with a maximum amount of $10,000 being awarded to any one property/business owner(s).
The grant review process includes a staff level design review, ranking according to a weighted value system of project priorities, and review by the grant review committee.
Eligible Properties and Projects
Eligible properties are those shown on the CRA Façade, Revitalization & Accessibility Grant Program Map. The Map is available at the last page of the Grant Program Guidelines.
Eligible projects include, but are not limited to, vacant buildings being converted into an active use; removal and replacement of inappropriate or incomplete exterior and/or restoration of original front facade; main, secondary, or rear facades; main entryway/door; re-roofing; and re-painting. The complete list of eligible projects is available in the Grant Program Guidelines
Additional weight will be given to those projects in which the property/business owners are investing a substantial sum of money into their projects. The most competitive projects will incorporate improvements to several aspects of the property and will demonstrate the greatest overall enhancement to the property.
