CSI

Crime Scene Investigation, (CSI) is not a separate unit within the Rocklin Police Department but rather an ancillary duty of the Investigations Unit. The CSI team is composed of sworn Peace Officers and non-sworn employees, (Community Services Officers).

Training
All CSI investigators attend a Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) approved Crime Scene Investigation course, with some members selected to attend even more extensive, specialized training. CSI investigators are qualified to handle all aspects of processing a crime scene. In major cases, the investigators are assisted by forensic specialists from the California Department of Justice (DOJ).

CSIEquipment
Each CSI member brings to the crime scene basic equipment for processing such as gloves, latent (hidden) print developers/lifters, blood reagents, gun shot residue (GSR) kits, casting material, measuring devices, camera/video equipment, etc. For more diverse cases, the unit uses the CSI van that is stocked with an array of specialized equipment.

The Crime Scene Investigators of the Rocklin Police Department are dedicated to constantly improving performance through training, equipment, and procedures that remain consistent with rapidly changing technology in the field of forensic science.
